Run Your Own Race

Hey family, I know it’s been a while since our last blog post. For all that have been looking for us, we are both healthy and well. My goal going forward is to be more consistent with our blog and to share what’s going on with us monthly.

The biggest thing that we have going on right now is that we are preparing for college graduation. Our son Darius is graduating college with a degree in Biochemistry next month. We’re so excited for him. NEXT STOP is Med school! He’s an amazing young man and we are very proud of him. He’s long gotten past the days when we could help him with his homework. Right before our own eyes, he’s moving forward in his education and navigating his life’s journey as an adult. We’ve always encouraged him to be a leader, not a follower, be kind and courteous to others, work hard, and remain focused on his goals.

I was reading my bible and ran across Proverbs 16:3 “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” We feel that if you believe in God, this principle says that when you commit your work or task to God. He will work for our good. These days more than ever, people are so easily influenced by social media or other distractions. Folks are getting caught up comparing their lives to what they see on Facebook or Instagram. These comparisons can lead to stress, anxiety, depression, and a sense of failure because you feel that you don’t measure up to what you see online. More often than not, the images that we see are fake or unrealistic. So, I am here to remind you to just do you. Put in the work, stay consistent, and pray to God to help you to achieve your goals. Don’t live your life or measure your level of happiness based on what you see on social media or where you think someone else’s life is.

Run your own race! Remember that God is always working on our behalf. “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

Much love,

KB
